In August last year we held the first Golf Croquet Festival Day. We were very fortunate with the weather, and everyone had a full day of Golf Croquet that was both sociable and competitive. There was a good deal of support for similar events to be run this year.

So, due to popular demand, the second Golf Croquet Festival Day will be held on Sunday 14th May

All club members are welcome for a day that is again intended to be both fun and competitive.

  • There will be 2 sessions of play, the first from 10.30am to 1pm and the second from 2pm to 4.30pm. Play will be on Half Lawns.
  • Depending on the entry, pairs will consist of an “experienced” player and a “novice” player.
  • “Experienced” players will NOT be paired together.
  • Pairs will be decided by a random draw of cards. A re-draw of pairs will take place for the afternoon session.
  • First matches will be arranged by a random draw of cards.  All further matches will depend on when games finish.
  • Matches will be first pair to score 7 hoops with a time limit of 25 minutes.  This may be altered depending on the number of entries.
  • Players will be awarded the number of hoops the pair have run at the end of each match.

The Rennie Cup – a highly prestigious and much coveted trophy – won last year by Nick Marshall, will be awarded to the player of the day to be selected by the organisers.

Light refreshments, tea, coffee, soft drinks and snacks will be available throughout the day.  Players will have to bring a packed lunch.

Anyone interested in playing please contact Bill Strachan (email) or Brian Butler (email) by Friday 12th May, informing us whether you want to play in the morning or afternoon or both sessions.

This event will be run on a similar basis to the AC Fun Doubles days, so it does not matter if you have never played Golf Croquet – you are more than welcome to come along and try (it is far less complicated than AC and very sociable).
